The listed Fortune Stakes (15:55 Sandown) is the feature race on the Sandown card and can go to the progressive Wentworth. Twice a winner as a juvenile, Wentworth was one of the season's biggest eyecatchers in a six-furlong contest at Goodwood on his return, enjoying no luck in running and finishing with plenty still to give. He failed to match expectations in a pair of competitive handicaps on his next two starts but belatedly delivered on his obvious promise in at Glorious Goodwood, looking better than a handicapper as he beat the exciting Cape Peron in a strong race. Wentworth hasn't encountered ground this soft but he is expected to relish any give underfoot and can take this en route to a crack at Group company.

Jamaican Bolt hasn't run since taking the eye in no uncertain terms on his seasonal return at Doncaster in March but he can make a winning return to action in the five-furlong handicap at Yarmouth (16:55). Jamaican Bolt has been withdrawn on the day a number of times with ground deemed to be unsuitably quick, but conditions finally appear to have come in his favour and he looks like a well-handicapped sprinter. Still relatively lightly raced for a sprinter, Jamaican Bolt is a sprinter to keep on the right side of.

Our strongest bet of the day is also our last as we side with the unexposed Calon Lad in the one-and-a-half mile handicap at Kempton (19:15). George Baker's three-year-old was drawn badly at this venue on his handicap debut two weeks ago, and, as a consequence, was held up in the early stages in a bid to find cover. The pace wasn't strong, though, and Calon Lad found himself further back than ideal as he launched his challenge in the straight, running on well to finish third without ever looking like reeling in the leaders. It was a highly promising effort, one backed up by the sectional times, and George Baker, a trainer in good form at the moment, has found his lightly-raced runner a nice opportunity to break his duck.
