Timeform UK SmartPlays: Wednesday September 17

We head to Esher for the first bet of the day which comes in a small but select novice stakes over seven furlongs (15:05). Latharnach and Time Test both bring strong maiden form to the table but preference is narrowly given to the latter. He was only just denied in a similar event to this on his debut and made no mistake in getting off the mark in a C&D maiden three weeks ago, the form of which is working out extremely well. He's clearly progressive and whilst his aforementioned rival merits serious respect after treading a similar path to this race, the selection looks capable of edging it.

We remain at Sandown for our second bet of the day which comes in the feature contest, the listed Fortune Stakes over a mile (15:40). This looks an excellent opportunity for Producer to return to winning ways and he gets the vote in a race which represents a significant drop in grade. He's been below par in a couple of Group 2s in his most recent outing but if he can rediscover some of the form which saw him finish second at Salisbury last month, or indeed that saw him triumph three times in 2013, he looks an excellent bet to get back on the scoreboard. The sole three-year-old in the field Cordite looks to be the main danger.
 
We head east to Yarmouth for our final bet of the day which comes in a competitive ten-furlong handicap (16:00).Given that Blighty looked unlucky not to get up here last time, he can continue his resurgence and notch up a second career success. It seems the return to the care of Lady Cecil has revitalised him following some dismal efforts for David O'Meara in the spring, and since Blighty has returned to Warren Place he's taken significant steps towards getting back on track. He was runner-up twice at this venue last month, and if everything falls right for him here then a victory looks very much on the cards.
