Timeform suggest bets at both Nottingham and Kempton on Wednesday...
Nottingham's 16:30 is a fairly tricky puzzle to solve but, at the current prices, the Gary Moore-trained Charitable Act could just represent a touch of value at 15.014/1. The four-year-old has finished runner-up on three occasions so far this term, most recently when beaten by Kamchatka at Brighton last month, and for all that he remains 3 lb above his last winning mark he is certainly one of the more interesting ones in this field now returned to a mile, which should suit.
Our selection in the 19:40 at Kempton is very much from the left-field as we take a chance on Sergeant Ablett, who is currently trading at a massive 44.043/1. The Luke Dace-trained five-year-old remains with just a two-year-old win to his name but he was showing useful form back in 2011 and has shaped better than the bare result would indicate on a couple of occasions recently, particularly when finishing fourth at Sandown and then ninth at Newmarket. His latest display was something of a setback despite him being tried over an obviously unsuitable trip but, if everything comes together, a mark of 72 could look very lenient indeed.
Kempton's 21:10 is a pretty poor race in truth but there is a bet to be found with Hail Promenader, who has been running well at this level of late and will be suited by the drop back to seven furlongs. The seven-year-old, who won twice in 2012, has largely performed creditably this term despite failing to add to his tally from a sliding mark. The promising Louis Steward, who claims 7 lb, takes the ride and Hail Promenader ought to go well.
