Jean de Florette finished placed on both starts in bumpers and makes plenty of appeal of appeal on his hurdling debut in the opening two-and-a-half mile maiden hurdle at Chepstow (13:10). Jean de Florette appeared to be held back by inexperience last year, hanging left under pressure on his second start at Haydock, but he hinted at possessing ability and could be a different proposition this year. A half-brother to the fairly useful chaser Howard's Legacy, the imposing Jean de Florette very much looks the type to relish the switch to hurdling and he should be capable of making an impact this afternoon.

We have a bit of a wait for our next bet as Meirig's Dream, who runs in the closing race on the Chepstow card (16:20), is the second SmartPlay of the day. Meirig's Dream hasn't been with Phillip Hobbs for long, but he has shaped well on all three starts, finishing runner-up each time, and he still possesses potential from this sort of mark. Meirig's Dream was unlucky to bump into an extremely well-handicapped rival on his return at Plumpton, and he can gain a well-deserved success in a race where he has a lot in his favour.

Horsted Keynes has won on three of his four career starts to date and he can enhance his already-impressive strike-rate in the 19:30 at Kempton. Horsted Keynes was well supported at Lingfield last week and he justified market confidence in good style, staying on well under pressure to lead inside the final furlong. Horsted Keynes remains unexposed and can defy the penalty he picked up for last week's win.
