We head to the only meeting of the day at Kempton for our three best bets...
It's a ten-furlong handicap (17:20) under consideration first and it looks an intriguing contest for the grade. Narrow preference is given to Poitin who has been running well of late; she was fourth over C&D three weeks ago and followed up that effort when runner-up over 12 furlongs here last time out. She remains lightly-raced from a handicapping perspective and has suggested in those two performances that her turn may not be far away. There are dangers in the form of Kelpie Blitz and Apache Blitz who have also put in creditable performances at this track recently.
It's the seven-furlong contest which follows (17:50) that provides our second bet of the day in the form of Surrey Dream. He was not seem to best effect here last time and has the ability to bounce back with Adam Kirby on board once again; the market support last time certainly suggested he would hold strong claims if able to put it all together, and if today is that day then he is worth keeping on side. The main danger is Fleetwood Sands who also disappointed in the face of strong support last time but may prove sharper today for the re-application of headgear.
We assess another seven-furlong handicap (18:50) for the third and final of today's SmartPlays and it looks a competitive contest. Firmdecisions and Maggie Pink both hold strong claims but it may be better to side with Smokethatthunders. He caught the eye when runner-up at Lingfield last week when coming from further back than ideal, backing up what have been creditable efforts in defeat since landing a sprint handicap at Yarmouth last July. Providing he's none the worse for the exertions of his last run a bold bid is expected and it would be no surprise to see him get back to winning ways.
