Timeform UK SmartPlays: Wednesday December 4

The first of today's three SmartPlays from the Shropshire track is in the mares' handicap hurdle (13:40) in which Pass The Time is taken to defy the 7 lb penalty for her Taunton win last week and make another visit to the winners' enclosure. The race she won last week was not the strongest of contests and she may struggle from a 5 lb higher mark in future, but she can take advantage of this good opportunity and continue her winning run. The list of potential dangers is headed by Buxom and Flying Phoenix, who both arrive on the back of creditable efforts and may give the selection most to think about. NON RUNNER

The feature race on today's card is under consideration next and it looks an interesting renewal of the staying handicap chase (14:10) for the Boyne Cup. As you would expect with such a valuable contest there are a number of runners worthy of respect; both Charingworth and Pickamus have returned from absences with promising efforts and look to be horses who are destined for the winners enclosure soon, but the vote goes to One In A Milan. He signed off his campaign over fences last year with a third in the Midlands National, and the recent pipe-opener over hurdles at Ffos Las will have ensured he is primed and ready for today. He holds an entry for the Welsh National and if that target is in mind then today's contest should be well within his compass.

The final bet of the day comes in the very next race, another handicap chase this time over two miles (14:40) in which Lancetto has a good opportunity to get back on the scoresheet. Lancetto has shown that he is in good form of late, twice finishing in the frame at Ascot last month, and the application of cheekpieces may bring about further improvement; he looks the standout bet at the prices. Anay Turge, if recovered from his fall at Newbury at the weekend, would be the other to consider.
