Timeform UK SmartPlays: Tuesday October 7

We kick off proceedings with a handicap over an extended 11 furlongs (15:10) and it's hoped the fitting of cheekpieces will benefit Authorized Too. It's still early days with him and you suspect he's being brought along slowly via the handicap route by Luca Cumani with loftier targets in mind in the future. He clearly shows promise at home as he's regularly well supported in the market, but disappointed at Wolverhampton last time after running out an impressive winner at Yarmouth in August. It's hoped the headgear irons out any kinks he might have temperament-wise and allows him to regain the winning thread. 

It's a valuable class 2 handicap over a mile under consideration next (16:10) and it looks a competitive contest. Dark Emerald is an uncomplicated front runner who arrives here in top form and looks a big danger, and Bold Prediction will give his running again too. However, narrow preference is for Fire Ship, who makes a rare start away from listed/pattern company and still looks on a fair mark considering his exploits elsewhere. He won a Group 3 at Deauville in August and although he wasn't at his best in France again last time looks capable of taking this drop in class in his stride and regaining the winning thread. 

Our final bet on the card comes in a sprint handicap over six furlongs (16:40) and Tachee is the one for our money. He began his life in handicaps from a fairly low base but looks to be improving fast now, landing back-to-back victories over this trip on the all-weather at Kempton in August. There's no reason to suggest he won't be capable of reproducing that level of form now he's returned to turf, and he still looks fairly treated on a mark of 70. Native Falls and Manatee Bay occupied the first two positions at Ayr last week and will be dangers if in the same form, but its hoped the selection will prove too progressive and land the hat-trick.
