"The final race we take in today is the fillies’ handicap from Ffos Las (18:35) in which handicap debutante Abated can get the better of her more experienced rivals."
Today's UK SmartPlays come courtesy of action at Musselburgh and Ffos Las...
Cono Zur (14:00), Tectonic and True Pleasure all arrive for this nine-furlong handicap in good form, but the first-named gets the vote after backing up consistent efforts thus far this year with a game victory at Haydock last week. He rallied after being cut off in the closing stages and ran on strongly at the line, suggesting he will not struggle with the extra furlong here, and turned out without a penalty he looks the most likely to start the day off with a win.
We are sticking with action at Musselburgh for another competitive contest in the five-furlong Handicap at 16:00, in which thriving C&D winner Imperial Legend could make it two from two in today's SmartPlays. He was a raced a little too close to the pace last time out at Haydock but he should give a good account of himself. Impressive Bath winner Burning Thread and course specialist Red Baron look the obvious threats in another small, but select field.
The final race we take in today is the fillies' handicap from Ffos Las (18:35) in which handicap debutante Abated can get the better of her more experienced rivals. She shed her maiden tag in some style at Lingfield last time out when beating a fairly useful horse of Richard Hannon's, making all to score by two-and-a-quarter-lengths. She may well get further than six furlongs in time but looks more unexposed than the rest of the field and can make it two on the bounce for the in-form Roger Charlton yard. Jubilant Queen and My Way Home are the two most worthy of respect.
