Timeform highlight a bet at Southwell and two at Taunton on Tuesday afternoon...
The John Jenkins string is in pretty decent heart at the moment, meaning that Southwell specialist Caramelita has to be respected in the 13:50 for all that she was disappointing here last time, but the one to side with is Michael Appleby's Laughing Rock. The four-year-old is a regular at Leicester and won a six furlong handicap there in the summer but she does have experience of the fibresand, having finished runner-up on her sole previous outing here. A recent spin on the polytrack, after a five month break, ought to have put her spot on for this and she makes plenty of appeal.
The Philip Hobbs-trained Milosam (15:10) began his C&D winning spree in November off a mark of 73 and, though his handicap mark is now 89, he is strongly fancied to bring up the four-timer. The seven-year-old has clearly taken well to fences and the suspicion is that he remains ahead of the handicapper given that he doesn't appear to do a great deal in front; a 4 lb rise for his latest success may underestimate him and he is the type to go on improving.
Al Alfa has been running creditably in some fairly strong handicaps of late, and he is fancied to take advantage of this slight drop in class in Taunton's 16:10. The seven-year-old, also trained by Philip Hobbs, improved when scoring for the second time over fences at Stratford in December and hasn't been disgraced at Ascot, Cheltenham and Warwick on his last three outings. His rivals aren't of a similar calibre to those he was facing there, and he should make a bold bid.
