Newmarket Warrior was narrowly denied on his handicap debut last week, but he looks well treated and can take the one-mile nursery at 14:35. Held up in the early stages, Newmarket Warrior made good progress two furlongs from home, throwing down a strong challenge to the well-supported and unexposed favourite, Ghaawy, as the pair pulled nicely clear of the field. Ghaawy just proved too strong in the closing stages, but it was a taking effort from Newmarket Warrior and, able to race off the same mark here, he should prove difficult to beat under man-of-the-moment Oisin Murphy.

Championship was undeniably disappointing in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot but he had looked like an exciting prospect when winning on debut at Newbury and he can confirm that promise in the seven-furlong Group 3 at 15:40. The form of Championship's debut win has worked out well - Berkshire and Jallota were in behind - and the fact that he hasn't run since the Coventry Stakes indicates that something wasn't quite right at Ascot; he is easily forgiven that effort. There are a number of horses open to progress, notably the unbeaten pair of God Willing and Silent Bullet, but Championship is expected to find plenty of improvement and can enhance Richard Hannon's good record in the race.

We wait until the final race on the Newmarket card (17:25) for our third bet as we side with Ladyship. Runner-up in last year's renewal, Ladyship looks to have strong claims of going one better as she enters the race in better heart than her form figures may imply, found out in a strong Group 3 at Goodwood before finding a five-and-a-half furlong handicap at York an insufficient test of stamina. Back over a suitable trip, Ladyship has extremely strong credentials and can hopefully round off the card in good style.
