Questioning (14:05) has run with credit on all three of his starts this season and he should be able to go close again in the Group 3 Betfair Huxley Stakes. Questioning shaped with plenty of promise in several of his starts last season without getting his head in front, but he made amends on his second start of 2012, beating Twice Over to win the Earl of Sefton Stakes at Newmarket. Thursday's soft ground is likely to inconvenience some of his main rivals but that cannot be said of Questioning, who ran well behind Penitent last time in the Sandown Mile on heavy. He breaks from stall one, further adding to his credentials, and Questioning looks Bet of the Day material.

Call to Battle (14:35) finished ahead of David Livingstone in the Ballysax Stakes and he is taken to confirm those placings this afternoon in the Group 3 Chester Vase. Mickdaam currently heads the Timeform ratings having run with credit throughout the winter in Dubai but Call to Battle is open to far more progression than that rival and he is expected to improve past the Richard Fahey colt. John Oxx has a brilliant record with runners in this country, and Call To Battle has an excellent chance of adding to his trainers' tally.

Stand to Reason is open to further improvement and he can land the ten furlong handicap at 16:45, with conditions appearing to be in his favour. Stand to Reason is a Timeform Horse in Focus having caught the eye last time out when winning a similar contest at Newbury on soft ground. The manner of his victory on that occasion suggested that he can continue to progress as the season develops, and the 8 lb rise in the weights is unlikely to prevent him going in again. Betfair columnist Ryan Moore takes the ride, which is another positive, and the pair look fair value in the final race of the afternoon.
