Toowoomba was strong in the betting last time, and always looked likely to justify the support, moving through the race in the manner of a horse well ahead of his mark
Wincanton has beaten the weather, and is the source of our three best bets on Thursday...
Wincanton 13:30 - Great Choice
Great Choice ran a stormer on his handicap bow at Cheltenham's Open meeting, only going down to a well-handicapped rival having stuck to his task in really pleasing fashion, and, given plenty of time to get over those exertions, he can register a first success. Great Choice's Cheltenham conqueror, Chesterfield, was in the process of hacking up at Kempton from a much higher mark before falling at the last, so there's nothing wrong with the form, and you get the impression that Great Choice may well improve for this significantly longer trip.
Wincanton 14:05 - Trickaway
Trickaway took a couple of starts to warm to his task as a chaser, but he's really hit his stride now, winning his last two outings with a bit in hand, and he looks capable of completing the hat-trick. A winner over C&D, Trickaway showed improved form to follow up at Exeter, jumping well in the main and always looking to have matters under control. He's a bit quirky and carries his head high, though that trait hasn't had a negative impact recently, and he could yet do better in this sphere.
Wincanton 15:40 - Toowoomba
Winning pointer Toowoomba showed the odd glimpse of promise over hurdles, but he's already proven to be a much better chaser, and he looks to hold excellent claims under a penalty for his recent wide-margin win at Leicester. Toowoomba was strong in the betting last time, and always looked likely to justify the support, moving through the race in the manner of a horse well ahead of his mark. He should prove difficult to beat if turning up in similar form.
