Timeform put forward three bets at three different meetings on Thursday...
The opening contest at Lingfield gets us underway, with Joyful Spirit appealing as the one to side with now that her stable is in better form. The three-year-old is yet to get her head in front and has proven relatively expensive to follow having shown promise on her final start last season, when finishing second at Windsor. The John Dunlop yard had recorded only three wins in 2012 prior to the start of this month, since when they have entered the winners' enclosure on four occasions, and if Joyful Spirit receives a less forceful ride than at Folkestone last time, when going off too hard, she could well be up to adding another success to that tally.
Hamilton's meeting was subjected to an inspection this morning and the going is described as heavy, something which could send the alarm bells ringing with punters, but one who is likely to relish the conditions is Terenzium in the 16:45. The ten-year-old last tasted success in June of last year, when winning at this venue over 13 furlongs off a 9 lb higher mark, and he has produced something of a mixed bag of performances since, combining decent efforts at Carlisle and Doncaster with not so good ones at Ripon and Newcastle. He never really got into contention at Thirsk earlier this month but, if putting his best foot forward on ground he appears to enjoy, he may be able to get back to winning ways.
The final race in Britain and Ireland today is the scene of our third SmartPlay, so with any luck we are in for a lengthy wait to see if we land the treble with the Jeremy Noseda-trained Triple Charm. The four-year-old is a better horse on the all-weather, bearing a Timeform master rating of 100 in comparison with his Turf rating of 89+, and has scored three times since making her debut just over a year ago. Triple Charm caught the eye over C&D in June, having to weave her way through but finishing to good effect, and a return to that sort of form would see her go very close here. A slight worry is the lack of any obvious pace, but Triple Charm has quickened off a steady pace in the past and has the considerable tactical talents of Frankie Dettori, fresh from his Ebor success last weekend, in the saddle.
