Our first bet at Exeter on Sunday runs in the handicap hurdle at 13:35 as we side with Genstone Trail. A comfortable winner at Huntingdon when last seen over a year ago, Genstone Trail wasn't hit hard by the handicapper and remains with the potential for better having made just the six starts over hurdles. She makes her return to action with her yard in good form and should launch a bold bid.

In the following novices' handicap chase at 14:05, it is difficult to oppose recent C&D scorer Sonofvic. Two seasons ago Sonofvic looked like he might take high rank among the novice chase division following an encouraging effort behind Grands Crus. However, Paul Nicholls' novice jumped poorly on his only subsequent start over fences that season and failed to complete on his final start of the campaign when tried back over hurdles. He jumped accurately on his belated return, though, comfortably accounting for Kentford Grey Lady, and looks to have been let in lightly by the handicapper. He should take this en route to better things. 

Qianshan Leader is not always the easiest to catch right but he ran extremely well behind a leniently-treated rival over C&D last time and is given the vote in the three-mile handicap chase at 14:35. Qianshan Leader's effort behind Standing Ovation looked good at the time, pushing that unexposed horse close under a forcing ride, but the subsequent successes of that rival makes the performance look even more meritorious. There is obviously a concern as to whether Qianshan Leader will replicate the effort, but his yard remains in good form and he remains fairly treated, despite going up 5 lb in the weights, so is given the benefit of the doubt.
