"Flying Officer remains unexposed and could make a mockery of an opening handicap mark of 88..."
Timeform advise three bets on today's card at Windsor...
Richard Hannon saddles two in Windsor's 14:50, a handicap for three-year-old's staged over a mile, and Richard Hughes has elected to ride Sam Spade. Naturally that one currently heads the betting but there looks to be plenty of competition for the lead and we're more interested in stablemate Girl Of Cadiz, who will be partnered by William Twiston-Davies and arrives here with a fairly consistent profile. The filly scored off a mark 2 lb lower than today's at Lingfield in December, so she is certainly handicapped to go close, and it would be foolish to dismiss her here.
Flying Officer, a brother to connections' St Leger hero Lucarno and Great Voltiguer winner Thought Worthy, justified market support to make a winning debut at Sandown last September in what was a fair maiden. He was then upped markedly in grade to the Group 3 Autumn Stakes, where he could only finish seventh but demonstrates the esteem in which he is held, and his pedigree suggests that he will excel this year. Flying Officer remains unexposed and could make a mockery of an opening handicap mark of 88.
Windsor's 16:30 looks pretty competitive but it could be worth taking a chance on Circumvent, who has been given a chance by the handicapper and may well end his lengthy losing run. The six-year-old finished third in last year's Winter Derby and put up another solid effort when placed in a Lingfield listed event in November. Circumvent made his seasonal return at Epsom last month, looking in need of the run but shaping well nonetheless, and he is worth siding with here.
