Saeed bin Suroor notched a brace of victories at Royal Ascot 2012, with Colour Vision and Tha'ir both proving successful, and he can register on the score sheet today with Tamaarud (15:10), albeit in the slightly less illustrious surroundings of Pontefract. The three-year-old made a promising start to his career when winning his sole start last year, beating dual subsequent winner Gassin Golf in a Lingfield maiden. His 2012 return was much more encouraging than it would seem, held-up before making rapid progress whilst forced wide on the home turn and, unsurprisingly, failing to sustain his effort. His handicap mark looks attractive, and he can return to winning ways here.

Orsippus is a Grade 1 winner over hurdles and is taken to land a third career success on the Flat in Pontefract's 16:10. The six-year-old belatedly exploited a lenient mark at York last October, beating a field of in-form stayers, and he has run consistently well in three starts since. On the latest occasion, when second at Ripon, he was arguably unlucky not to taste success, conceding first run to the winner and being in front a stride after the line, and a 4 lb rise in the weights is unlikely to prevent another bold show.

Nevertika (16:30) has more than his fair share of temperament but, if appearing in the same mood as last time, when runner-up over course-and-distance, he has solid claims in a field lacking any strength in depth. He travelled fluently on that occasion, eventually no match for the winner but pulling well clear of the third, and he competes here off the same mark. There are doubts surrounding his main rivals and this contest looks to be there for the taking for Nevertika.
