Malcolm Denmark's famous checkerboard colours can be carried successfully this afternoon by Clever Dick (14:00), who is making his chase debut in the opening two-and-a-half-mile handicap at Worcester. David Pipe's six-year-old won a Taunton handicap hurdle over today's trip in February and, although stopping quickly at Catterick next time, it would be no surprise if he were to bounce back now tackling the larger obstacles having been given a three-month break. Paddy Brennan is unbeaten on the horse.

Lucinda Russell sent out Samstown to score at Hexham yesterday and the Perth and Kinross trainer can saddle a winner at her local track in Lucky Sunny (15:40) this afternoon. Russell looks to have a strong hand in Perth's handicap over an extended two miles and, while handicap debutant Navy List is interesting, the fact that Lucky Sunny is having his first start for the yard means he also makes plenty of appeal. A bumper winner who was third at Carlisle off a 7 lb higher BHA rating on his handicap hurdle debut in March, Lucky Sunny can put a weak-finishing effort behind him and is worth chancing at current odds.

Locked Inthepocket (16:30) was a winning selection for this column over an extended two and a half miles at Perth last time and there's no reason why eight-year-old can't follow up off a 6 lb higher BHA mark. Pauline Robson's horses have been running very well over the last few months (six wins from last nine runners to complete) and the fact that Timmy Murphy again takes the ride is a big positive. Locked Inthepocket clearly loves the track as he's returned to his best in winning his last two outings there, and he was value for further than the three quarters of a length winning margin last time. Today's race looks warmer but he's worth supporting at around 6.05/1.
