Keene Dancer has already shown more than enough to suggest she will have no problem landing a maiden, and she may have found an easy opportunity (Windsor, 14:15). The Sir Michael Stoute-trained filly (daughter of owners' Prix de L'Opera winner Kinnaird) shaped well behind The Fugue on debut at Newmarket in October, and needed run the when fourth at Salisbury on her return (behind a subsequent winner). It seems unlikely she will bump into another above-average improver in this field and may prove most effective at this trip.

Western Prize can land the H.S. Lester Memorial Handicap at Salisbury this afternoon (15:40). Ralph Beckett's inmate has only raced five times, winning twice last year and showing improvement each time he was stepped up in trip. The four-year-old scored in a one-and-a-half-mile handicap at Newbury last June and went with zest until a lack of fitness told on his return over this trip at Newmarket in May. Western Prize is now 1 lb lower in the weights and should be able to take advantage of this drop in grade for an in-form stable.

Kieren Fallon was full of praise for Hippy Hippy Shake after her debut second at Lingfield last month, and she can confirm the promise shown there in the 16:50 at Salisbury. This well-bred filly attracted plenty of market support on her debut but, as is often the case with her yards debutants, she took a while before the penny dropped. When it did, however, she showed real signs of ability, only beaten by a more experienced Henry Cecil-trained filly, and is bound to be wiser for that.
