Why Not Now appeals as the type to improve now tackling handicaps and he makes plenty of appeal in the seven-furlong event for three-year-olds at 16:45. A half-sister to the smart Definightly, Why Not Now offered something to work with when finishing fourth over C&D on her racecourse debut, travelling well and staying on strongly in the closing stages. Why Not Now didn't go on as expected on her second start, but she recovered from that blip when once again staying on nicely here, this time over six furlongs, and she could well improve markedly in handicap company from a good opening mark.

The Paul Nicholls-trained Ranjaan makes his handicap debut on the Flat from a fair-looking mark and he could take some beating in the two-mile contest at 17:15. A useful hurdler, Ranjaan has proven fully effective on the polytrack, finishing runner-up on three occasions in jumpers' bumpers and producing a perfectly satisfactory effort in a minor event here last time, and the booking of Ryan Moore here is an obvious positive. Ranjaan looks to have everything in his favour and should make a bold bid.

Our final bet runs in the concluding one-mile handicap (17:45) as we side with the unexposed Lawmans Thunder. A four-year-old that has only had three starts, Lawmans Thunder hasn't stood much racing but he has shown signs of ability, notably so on his first start for this yard, finishing fifth here last month. That promising effort came over seven furlongs and Lawmans Thunder could well be suited by the step up to one mile as he tackles handicaps from the first time, his opening mark not a prohibitive one.
