Our first bet on Sunday runs in the two-mile conditional jockeys' handicap hurdle at 14:20 as we give another chance to free-going August Hill in the hope that the application of a hood will help her to settle. August Hill showed fairly useful form in bumpers but her efforts over hurdles can only be described as fair at best, her headstrong nature hindering her progress. A mark of 103 is certainly not beyond August Hill provided she can harness her exuberance and the application of a hood for the first time could be crucial. We will take a chance on the Philip Hobbs-trained mare, especially as a sharp two miles on a sound surface should suit her ideally.

The following race - the two-mile maiden hurdle at 14:50 - looks like a good opportunity for Very Noble to register a first success over hurdles. Very Noble showed a surprisingly good turn of foot to win a jumpers' bumper at Lingfield in February, quickening well close home to land the spoils, and he then produced his best effort to date when finishing third to some useful rivals in a novices' hurdle at Taunton. The form of that effort has since been boosted with the winner going in again and Very Noble, who doesn't yet look the finished article, should give a good account of himself this afternoon.

Based on his very lightly-raced profile, Oscarslad presumably hasn't been the easiest to train but he showed up well on his return from a 22-month absence when finishing third on his chasing debut at Exeter and he holds obvious claims in the staying handicap chase at 17:05. Previously with Paul Nicholls, Oscarslad is now with Harry Fry and his effort at Exeter demonstrated that he retains a good chunk of his ability. The eight-year-old jumped fine and showed a good aptitude for chasing, simply unable to go with a couple of improving horses, and he is entitled to improve on that return to action.
