First Mohican doesn't have many miles on the clock for a five-year-old but what he does have is an impressive strike-rate, winning four times from 7 starts, and he holds excellent claims in the listed Doonside Cup (14:05 Ayr) following some creditable efforts in defeat at Deauville in Group races. First Mohican produced an impressive display on his seasonal return at York, looking value for more than the winning margin as he conceded his rival first run, and he looked as if he was capable of making an impact outside of handicap company. Two French raids to Deauville proved unsuccessful but First Mohican remains relatively unexposed and is by no means a horse to give up on, especially when faced with the soft surface he relishes.
Jallota produced his best effort yet when finishing fourth in the Group 1 Prix Morny and he sets a high standard in the 15:05 at Newmarket. Having won a strong maiden on the July course, Jallota has gone on to perform creditably in a number of prestigious Group races, including the Coventry Stakes and July Stakes. Mick Channon's colt faces some interesting, unexposed rivals but they haven't achieved anything like the same level of form as Jallota, and he really ought to prove difficult to beat.
The twice-raced and completely unexposed Meteoroid can land the seven-furlong nursery at Newbury (16:05). The well-bred juvenile holds plenty of fancy entries next year, including one in the Derby, and he confirmed the promise of his debut effort when showing marked improvement to score at Warwick next time, winning with plenty in hand. An opening mark of 79 could well underestimate this fascinating two-year-old and he can take another step forward by registering a second victory.
