Sole Power should be capable of recording back-to-back victories in the Temple Stakes (15:00) with conditions seemingly in the five-year-old's favour. Edward Lynam's gelding sprung a surprise when landing the 2010 Nunthorpe at unlikely odds and he proved that victory to be no fluke when supplementing the success with a win in this race twelve months ago. He was touched off out in Dubai on his latest start in the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint, but a reproduction of that form should be enough for him to go close here, with a sharp five furlongs on good to firm ground right up his street. Bated Breath rates as the main danger, but this is his first try over the minimum trip and Sole Power gets the vote.

Al Muheer was an impressive winner at Thirsk last week and is capable of following up in the handicap at 16:40. Al Muheer has looked more like his old self on his latest starts, having suffered a frustrating time of things since 2009, and the seven-year-old remains some 16 lb below his career high BHA mark. Shahzan, a Doncaster maiden winner having just his third start, is likely to pose the biggest threat, but Al Muheer arrives in the best possible form and represents value at current odds.

Toymaker (17:50) was a selection for this column when scoring an easy success at Pontefract last time and he is chosen to go in again today in the final race of the afternoon. Toymaker remains relatively lightly raced for James Given, having had just the four starts since leaving Luca Cumani last season, and he can continue on an upward curve. He has gone up 8 lb for his latest success, which seems fair given the manner of his victory, and that rise probably isn't enough to prevent the five-year-old from winning again. The majority of the field have plenty to find with Toymaker and he represents bet of the day material.
