Timeform UK SmartPlays: Saturday May 12
Paul Hanagan will be on Lordofthehouse, Saturday's best bet.

Lordofthehouse signed off in 2011 with a hat-trick and looks the type to carry on in similar fashion this year...

Timeform's SmartPlays team highlight a trio of selections for Saturday's racing...

World Domination has always been held in high regard by connections and has an excellent opportunity to get his career back on track in Lingfield's 15:45. The four-year-old, trained by Henry Cecil, made a very taking racecourse debut at Newbury last April, beating a field containing no less than six next-time-out winners, including Fiorente and Solar Sky, with relative ease. On the back of that success alone he was promoted to favourite for the Derby before only managing to finish fourth in the Dante at York. A poor run at Ascot followed and he was then given a break, returning with a more than excusable effort on extremely testing ground in the Gordon Richards Stakes late last month. A number of pattern-race entries suggest connections retain the faith, and it is much too early to be writing him off.

Moving on to Ascot, where Peace Seeker (17:10), who was on a sharp upward curve when last seen in December, is taken to make a winning reappearance after a break now switched to turf. The four-year-old joined current trainer Anthony Carson after his third start and, in four subsequent runs, has won three times and finished runner-up on the other occasion. His most recent start, when winning over five furlongs at Wolverhampton, demonstrated that he had the speed for the minimum trip but, as he saw out the affair strongly, it also suggested he would relish a return to slightly further. He appeals as the type to do better still, and can get his 2012 campaign off to the best of starts.

Lordofthehouse (19:15) signed off in 2011 with a hat-trick and looks the type to carry on in similar fashion this year, starting off on this evening's Thirsk card. The four-year-old hadn't looked particularly straightforward in his first few starts, but he made amends for that when kicking off his winning streak at Haydock. Wins at Newcastle and back at Haydock followed, looking very much one to follow on the latter occasion, and, whilst a step up in trip is likely to bring out yet more improvement in time, the mile and a half faced tonight will be more than adequate. Trainer William Haggas has been in fine form of late and, Lordofthehouse, although a sort price, looks certain to run well.
