"Banaadeer will have drying ground will be in his favour, the step up to seven furlongs looks likely to suit on pedigree and he only has to carry an extra 4 lb for what was a facile success last time..."

Timeform advise one bet apiece from Musselburgh, York and Sandown on Saturday...

The first contest under consideration is the handicap from Musselburgh over an extended mile-and-a-half (14:00), and the one to keep on side looks to be Lysino. He showed no more than a modest level of form over hurdles whilst in the care of Chris Grant but had been a useful performer prior to that on the flat. He had no problem in switching codes after bolting up at Ayr on Monday on what was his first run for Keith Dalgleish. He has a penalty to shoulder for that impressive performance but if he turns up in the same mood as earlier in the week it shouldn't stop him making it two from two for his shrewd handler.

We head south to York next and it's the Ganton Stakes, a listed contest over a mile (15:15), which is next under the microscope. Lockwood probably has the best form on offer but he's yet to prove himself over this trip and as a result preference goes to Dutch Rose. She is unbeaten at this track, and although all her wins here have come over seven furlongs she's proved herself equally as effective at a mile elsewhere and as a result the trip isn't expected to be a problem. She's more than earned a crack at this level after her fine performance last month and she's expected to take the step up in class in her stride.

The final bet of the day comes at Sandown, in what looks an ultra-competitive seven furlong handicap (16:05) and although Captain Bob merits respect on the back of his solid effort at Chester, the one to keep on side is Banaadeer. He came from off the pace to land a Kempton handicap on his return last month, scoring in impressive fashion. The drying ground will be in his favour, the step up to seven furlongs looks likely to suit on pedigree and he only has to carry an extra 4 lb for what was a facile success last time. Conditions looks to be at an optimum and although there are plenty who arrive here with live chances, not least his stablemate Aertex, the selection may prove a cut above his rivals.
