Timeform UK SmartPlays: Saturday July 19

Richard Fahey's Realtra has a good chance in the Super Sprint
Richard Fahey's Realtra has a good chance in the Super Sprint

Saturday's UK Smartplays come from the valuable card at Newbury...

The William Haggas-trained Token Of Love remains unexposed after just four runs and she showed the best form of her short career when winning over a mile at Newmarket last time out. That win was achieved in impressive fashion, needing only a hands-and-heels ride to assert, and with plenty of improvement likely she gets the vote to land what is a competitive event. Provenance, too, could well prove better than a handicapper in time and is worthy of consideration on her third career start, but Token of Love, who has been notably well supported of late, should prove a tough nut to crack.

Any horse André Fabre sends to the UK must be treated with the utmost respect and even if Triple Threat is not one of the stable's leading lights, he certainly has the profile to take the 14:40. Already a Group 2 winner in France, he has struggled on unsuitably soft going of late, but 10 furlongs on good to firm ground at a fair galloping track like Newbury looks ideal for this son of Monsun and he is expected to justify the cross-Channel trip. If at his best, multiple Group 1 winner Al Kazeem would of course take this with the minimum of fuss, but it is well documented that this return to action was not part of connections' plans and he cannot be supported with confidence for now.

The Weatherby's Super Sprint at 15:50 is the feature of Saturday's racing fare, and it is always a competitive and compelling contest that can throw up an exciting type for the future. In a race in which weights are allocated by price at the yearling sales, Richard Fahey's Realtra finds herself at the bottom of pile. But despite not costing much, she has been a model of consistency this season and has both the form and progressive profile to rival all comers. Tiggy Wiggy will be a warm order on the back of a close second in the Queen Mary at Ascot, but will have to concede more than a stone to Realtra and could be vulnerable. Bond's Girl is another who could benefit from a feather weight, but may lack the class of the selection.
