Timeform suggest three bets on this afternoon's card at Brighton...
A case can be made for virtually everything in the opening event at Brighton, with the verdict narrowly given to the Conor Dore-trained Above The Stars who will go close if able to repeat her latest piece of form. The five-year-old has already hit the mark on four occasions this year and, after a brief spell in the doldrums, she returned to form on just her fourth outing for this yard, finishing second to Colybor in a seller at Thirsk. A mark of 69 looks fair on her return to handicaps and she is fancied to go well.
The George Baker-trained Uganda Glory has run well on her two previous visits to this track, finishing second on each occasion, and she looks to hold every chance of going one better in Brighton's 15:30. The three-year-old put up a decent effort when last seen at Nottingham, finishing fourth to Hattie Jacques but shaping better than the bare result having met with interference and being forced to wait for a gap. A visor is now employed and, if that works the oracle, she seems certain to be involved at the finish.
Lambert Pen is still a maiden but he is able to race from a 3 lb lower mark than when finishing second to Lady Sylvia at Salisbury last time, and he is taken to finally get off the mark in the 17:00. That race was just four days ago, so there is a chance that he could find this coming too soon, but if all is well he ought to put up a bold show.
