Timeform bring you their three best bets from Pontefract and Windsor on a wet and windy Monday...
We kick off proceedings with a handicap over a mile from Pontefract (15:10) and a chance is taken on Moohaarib to get back on track. He's been generally progressive this season, as seen when registering his second win in a Doncaster handicap over this trip in June. He ran too badly to be true at York last time and if he can return to the sort of form which he'd been in previously, he's capable of significant improvement. Top of The Glas is another who will be dangerous if back on song but it's hoped the selection can account for him and get us off to a winning start.
We remain Pontefract for the next contest under consideration, which comes in the staying conditions event over 18 furlongs (15:40). Given that 2013 winner Statutory arrives in good heart again this time around, he gets the vote to repeat the dose again. He signed off a fine campaign last year in which he won three times for Mark Johnston with victory in this contest and as he has proved to be as effective an operator again this season. Placed efforts in competitive contests at Goodwood and York give him a leading chance on form and although the likes of Big Thunder and Alwidla are respected, the selection should just have the edge.
We head south to Windsor for our final bet of the day which comes in a handicap over an extended 11 furlongs (15:30) and it might pay to keep Norway Cross on side. She hasn't quite made the progress expected since winning her maiden at Pontefract a year ago, but there were signs of real promise in her last performance. She shaped extremely well when third at Sandown over ten furlongs in August, keeping on right to the line and suggesting a step up in trip would see her to better effect. If she's ready to go for today's contest she looks capable of progressing past her rivals and realising her potential.
