Timeform UK SmartPlays: Monday November 5

We get underway in the 15:45 at Kempton, where Loch Ba looks a decent bet on his first starts for trainer Mick Channon. Formerly in the care of Henrietta Knight, the six-year-old won first time up, at this track, last season and went on to improve slightly on his next two starts. Things didn't really go to plan on his next three starts, hinting at temprament on the last occasion, but the overriding impression is that he is likely to prove well-treated on today's BHA mark of 108.

We now switch to the polytrack at Wolverhampton, where Aragorn Rouge is taken to land the 15:55. It is unlikely that his latest effort went unnoticed as, having travelled strongly at Kempton, he burst clear before being run down by Whinging Willie in the final stages, doing too much too soon. That was his first outing for his current yard and he is almost certainly favourably handicapped, racing from a mark of just 52 having being rated 78 in Ireland in March of this year.

Our final SmartPlays comes in the 16:55, where Partner is taken to make up for a luckless passage at Catterick on his latest start. Prior to that effort the six-year-old finished a good second over six furlongs at this track, pulling hard and likely to have benefitted from a stronger gallop, and the suspicion is that he remains in form as he was denied a run for much of the final two furlongs at Catterick, finishing with plenty more to give. He can gain compensation here.
