Timeform bring you their three best bets from Southwell and Kempton on Monday...
We kick off proceedings with a handicap chase from Southwell over an extended two-and-a-half miles (14:30) in which a case can be made for several of the contenders. Dashing George has gone well when turned out quickly on previous occasions, so his disappointing Newbury performance in a more competitive race on Saturday does not need to be judged too harshly, and he seems likely to bounce back. However narrow preference goes to Galway Jack, who has shown significant promise in two of his three starts so far this term, especially when runner up at Fakenham last time. He shaped particularly well on that occasion and was rallying for a strong challenge when he was hampered at the final flight. If he comes on from that run he holds strong claims, with the current vein of form handler Caroline Bailey has hit a significant positive too.
We head over to Kempton next for a seven-furlong handicap (15:45) and Russian Ice's turn could be here again if he can build on some promising recent efforts. He appears to be back in form since the turn of the year and has made the frame twice in two starts, shaping particularly well when runner-up over C&D last time. He's already won four times at the track and providing he's in the same mood as a month ago he holds strong claims to take a fifth course win in today's race. There are dangers however in what looks a competitive race for the grade, with Athletic worth a look after a layoff and Presumido continuing to shape with promise in recent times.
We return to Southwell for our final bet of the day in a handicap hurdle over an extended two-and-a-half miles (16:05) and it looks a tricky race to assess. Given that Weather Babe is a non-runner it might pay to take a chance on Kodicil, who put in a much improved performance when landing a handicap at Market Rasen in January. It may have been the application of blinkers which prompted the improved performance on that occasion and although there are signs the effectiveness of the headgear has waned in two starts since, he remains extremely fairly treated and there do not look to be many dangerous rivals in today's contest. The one who may give the selection something to think about if My Oh Mount Brown who boasts a good strike rate, but seemed amiss last time and Kodicil is taken to maximise the advantage of his official rating.
