The staying maiden handicap at Redcar looks reasonably wide open but it's worth taking a chance on Bollin Nancy (14:45), who is positive in the market ahead of a drastic step up in trip. Tim Easterby's three-year-old is by a St Leger hero in Bollin Eric and out of twelve furlong winner Bollin Nellie, making her a sister to Bollin Judith, a winner over an extended two miles, so it's not surprising she showed very little in three maidens over seven to nine furlongs. Bollin Nancy is expected to do much better today with her yard amongst the winners and her pedigree suggesting good-to-firm ground is what she needs, while it's worth noting she remains the only runner in the line-up open to improvement.

Ex-Sheikh Mohammed maiden-winning mare Tegwen has excelled herself at stud for owner Abdullah Saeed Belhab, Fillies' Mile and May Hill winner Teggiano being her crowning glory, and Navigation Track (17:05) is the latest of her offspring to fly the flag, lining up in a staying handicap at Redcar. The switch to handicaps worked for David Simcock's then three-year-old when taking a mile-and-a-quarter event at Ffos Las last August and his effort over two furlongs further at Brighton on his return was also promising, not seen to best effect in fourth having been left with too much to do. A further increase in distance is expected to play into hands and he looks a solid bet at current odds.

Tracey Waggott's Shadowtime (17:15) has shaped as if just bubbling under in three outings so far this term and, although a Beverley specialist, he can take division one of the mile Carlisle Bell Trial Handicap. The horse that beat him when third at Pontefract last time, Woolston Ferry, has been rejuvenated since joining Henry Candy so that form is probably strong and Shadowtime is actually 3 lb lower than for that run, now down to a BHA rating 3 lb lower than his last winning one. Freddie Tylicki, who takes the mount for the first time, is a positive booking and the pair can combine successfully at rewarding odds.
