Timeform provide you with bets from Pontefract and Southwell on Monday...
Pontefract's six-furlong minor event for juveniles at 15:00 features some useful prospects, notably Henry Candy's once-raced Son of Africa, and he is our first SmartPlay of the day. Henry Candy wouldn't be renowned for having lots of first-time-out two-year-old winners, but Son of Africa - who took the eye in the parade ring beforehand - made an impressive start to his career, always travelling well before keeping on strongly inside the final couple of furlongs to prevail. The Windsor contest looked like a strong race on paper, featuring a couple of well-supported juveniles, and Son of Africa is worth following.
Our next SmartPlay also runs at Pontefract as we side with Stepping Out in the six-furlong fillies' handicap at 16:00. Stepping Out is a sprinter to keep on side based on her win at Goodwood earlier this month where she justified strong market support with a narrow-but-authoritative victory. Stepping Out raced handily in a well-run contest and it is encouraging that she still had enough left in the tank to fend off a couple of late challenges, and the unexposed three-year-old filly can carry on climbing the sprinting ranks.
Sellingallthetime was disappointing at Doncaster last time, but he had previously run out an impressive winner at Southwell and the return to fibresand looks in his favour. He can take the mile-and-a-half handicap at 16:45. Sellingallthetime looked the type to win plenty of races on fibresand when registering a nine-length win under this 7-lb claimer, staying on strongly to pull well clear of his rivals, and a 5 lb higher mark shouldn't prove to be an obstacle to success.
