Timeform Horses to Follow entry Thomas Chippendale is better than he could show on his reappearance at Newbury...

Timeform's SmartPlays team are confident of getting back on track on Friday following a couple of near misses yesterday...

Bella Ophelia (14:45) notched a hat-trick of wins at Southwell earlier this year and, having shown promise on her turf debut at Windsor last month, she looks well worth backing to claim a fourth career success. The three-year-old, trained by Hughie Morrison, was dropped out by Darryll Holland on the latter occasion and forced to switch towards the far side, responding well to pressure despite being somewhat isolated. The step back up to six furlongs today looks sure to suit, and she is taken as being capable of adding to her trainer's impressive level-stakes profit of £53.75 at the Newmarket July course in the last five years.

Timeform Horses to Follow entry Thomas Chippendale is better than he could show on his reappearance at Newbury and can make amends for that run with a triumph in Newmarket's 16:30. Trained by Sir Henry Cecil, this lengthy, well-made colt got off the mark at the second time of asking last season at Leicester, value for more than the winning margin of a neck over subsequent Kentucky Derby fourth Went the Day Well would suggest. On his 2012 bow, the three-year-old travelled smoothly having been waited with but was disadvantaged by the run of the race, with the modest pace favouring those ridden more prominently. He is sure to progress, and can land this before potentially taking up an entry in the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Our final selection comes in Goodwood's 20:00, where Man of Plenty can follow up his good second on his latest start with a win. The three-year-old is a progressive gelding who left his juvenile form well behind him when winning on his seasonal debut, a success coming despite the John Dunlop yard enduring a fairly quiet campaign as yet. The aforementioned second-placed effort on his latest start was more than creditable, losing very little in defeat against a similarly progressive sort, and, with the step up in trip faced today looking sure to suit, all looks set for Man of Plenty to gain a second career win.
