Most eyes will be firmly on the football at 17:35, but we will be flicking back to Doncaster, just for a minute, to hopefully watch the unexposed Random Success win the concluding five-furlong handicap..
Timeform bring you bets from Haydock and Sandown on an action-packed day of racing...
Our first bet runs in Sandown's ten-furlong handicap at 16:10 as we side with last-time-out course-and-distance winner Rydan. It is a shame that Air Pilot, the forecast favourite, has been withdrawn as Rydan's price has consequently crashed, but the three-year-old still offers value, even at the revised prices, such was the promise of his success last time where he stayed on strongly from an unpromising position to get up late on. Rydan was making his handicap debut at Sandown having run in some strong maidens and he clearly started life in this sphere from a fair mark. A 6 lb rise in the weights shouldn't pose many problems given his progressive nature, and he should give a good account.
Rydan got the better of Reesha at Sandown but Roger Varian seems to have found a nice opportunity for his filly in the 16:35 at Doncaster, and she can bounce back to winning ways. Reesha had the run of things to an extent at Sandown, allowed to dictate, but she still showed improved form, battling on well under pressure, and ought to be tricky to beat with the step up in trip to a mile and a half likely to play to her strengths. As an unexposed three-year-old in receipt of a hefty weight allowance, it would be a surprise were one of the older brigade to defy Reesha, and her biggest threat looks likely to come from Allegria, who was an impressive winner at Haydock last time. Reesha has the advantage of being proven under today's fast conditions, though, and, with her run-to-run progress showing no sign of stopping, she should be difficult to beat.
Most eyes will be firmly on the football at 17:35, but we will be flicking back to Doncaster, just for a minute, to hopefully watch the unexposed Random Success win the concluding five-furlong handicap. Random Success has few miles on the clock for a four-year-old having made just the seven career starts, and she was progressive on the all-weather over the winter, scoring twice and signing off with a career-best close-up second. Her latest couple of efforts came over six furlongs, but Roger Charlton's filly has already won over five furlongs and the powerful manner in which she travels, allied to an explosive turn of foot, suggests that she will have few problems dropping back to the minimum distance. Random Success has the potential to continue climbing the sprinting ranks and looks a good bet today.
