Timeform provide you with the best bets from Lingfield and Sedgefield on Friday...
Random Success (12:30 Lingfield) was only beaten a head on her handicap debut at Lingfield on New Year's Eve and, with the benefit of that experience, she is worth backing to get off the mark back at the same venue. Random Success didn't have any real excuse for her recent defeat - she travelled better than most, was delivered with a strong challenge and edged out close home - but she is a lightly-raced filly and in good hands so is entitled to improve a bit as she gains experience. Given the way she travelled last time, the drop back in trip to five furlongs isn't anticipated to prove a problem and she can get off the mark.
Shaunas Spirit is better on the all-weather than turf and she registered her sixth polytrack success when scoring at Lingfield last month; she holds excellent claims back at the same venue in the one-mile handicap at 14:30. Shaunas Spirit looked better than ever when winning last time, going with enthusiasm and quickening well to lead inside the final furlong, and her recent resurgence has coincided with Adam Kirby taking over from a claimer. Kirby again takes the ride and the leading rider can steer Shaunas Spirit to another victory.
Willie Hall shaped with more promise at Newcastle than the bare result suggests and he can get back to winning ways in the two-and-a-half mile handicap hurdle at Sedgefield (15:15). Willie Hall was largely out of sorts over hurdles and fences last season but it is worth noting that his yard went through an extended period of poor form. William Amos has his string in much better shape of late and Willie Hall offered some encouragement at Newcastle where he made some headway without being subjected to a punishing ride. The ten-year-old gelding has slipped to a fair mark and is worth another chance.
