Ballywatt shaped extremely well at Newbury last time, travelling strongly for a long way when finishing second to Wings of Smoke, and he can take another step forward by landing the 14:10. This looks like a competitive race of its type, but Kim Bailey's six-year-old remains fairly unexposed, having had just the two starts over fences, and it would be little surprise were he to prove superior to his rivals. 

Chilworth Screamer fared well over an inadequate two miles at Towcester last time and should find today's distance more suitable in the 14:40. Chris Gordon's four-year-old is also making her first appearance in handicap company and it would be little surprise were this bumper winner to make significant improvement now tackling this type of race. She offers a spot of value trading at a double-figure price.

Our last SmartPlay comes in the final race at Hereford. Franklin Roosevelt was perhaps a slight disappointment on his first start for David Pipe, managing to finish only third having attracted overnight support, but he still looks to be on a fair mark and should be given another chance. It is possible he will come on for that initial outing and the change of headgear could also help to produce a better effort. Hopefully Franklin Roosevelt can bring the curtain down on racing at Hereford in style.
