Blackwater King has done little wrong when placed on numerous occasions over fences. Given the doubts surrounding his rivals, he is worth chancing to end his frustrating sequence after being given a break since falling at Sedgefield in October. Aye Well and Cousin Guillaume look the best alternatives.

Honourable Gent - 14:00 Musselburgh

Honourable Gent is going the right way and still looks fairly treated after a 6 lb rise for his comfortable win last time. Wilde Pastures has been in reasonable form over fences and should be capable of getting involved off his lower hurdles mark, while Claude Carter has had a really good spell of late and is likely to be in the mix again.

Royal Player - 15:00 Musselburgh

Royal Player showed a good attitude to get the better of a thriving rival when making a winning start over fences at Ludlow in December. He has the potential to do much better still, and gets the nod over Island Heights and Dream Flyer, who are also open to further progress in this sphere.
