William H Bonney - 13:20 Plumpton

This opening novice is arguably the most competitive on the card. Even so, we think there's merit in siding with a hurdling debutant. William H Bonney was runner-up in a couple of bumpers including one earlier this month and can make his first start over hurdles a winning one. The best hurdles form up to now belongs to Pilgrims Rest and he is considered the main danger.

Princess Tara - 14:10 Plumpton

Pricess Tara revels in the mud, having won a couple of heavy-ground handicaps at Ffos Las by wide margins last winter. With similar conditions forecast and her reappearance promising more for next time, she looks the way to go here. Cannon Fodder often runs well and is considered a danger, her last win coming over an equivalent C&D.

Eastern Witness - 15:10 Plumpton

This is a weak race, so Eastern Witness is well worth chancing. He showed bits of form over hurdles that make him look well-handicapped, and he's just the type to take off for this yard at some point. Last-time winner Leith Hill Lagasi is no longer well-handicapped after winning last time, though she's worthy of respect again in a weak race.
