Orvar - 14:40 Newmarket

A very open renewal. Orvar was behind a couple of these in the Windsor Castle, but was much better than the result having raced on the unfavoured side, and can turn that form around faced with a more level playing field, enhancing the excellent recent record of the Hannon yard in this race. Stablemate Eltezam and Kevin Ryan's Areen head the dangers.

Second Step - 15:15 Newmarket

Second Step has to shoulder a 3 lb penalty for his Jockey Club Stakes success but this highly progressive four-year-old could well be up to the task. Mahsoob is another who has made rapid strides and looks sure to put up a bold bid to stretch his unbeaten record to five, while Gospel Choir is seemingly a little fragile but has won twice at this level and made a successful reappearance over C&D recently.

Awesome Power - 15:45 Newmarket

Awesome Power was well on top at the finish when making it two wins from three starts in a competitive Sandown handicap last time and even an 8 lb rise may not be enough to stop him going in again. The Sir Michael Stoute-trained Muntadab also made a successful start to his career in handicaps at the Esher venue and surely has more to come, while his stablemate Dissolution boasts some solid form.
