Kings Palace - 13:15 Cheltenham

Kings Palace is the only one of the quintet yet to race over fences, the remainder all carrying penalties for recent initial victories in this sphere, but he was a smart novice hurdler last term and appeals as the type to reach at least that level in this sphere, so is taken to make a winning start. Sausalito Sunrise may pose the biggest threat.

Buywise - 14:30 Cheltenham

Last year's winner Johns Spirit has to enter calculations again, but it could pay to concentrate on the form of the Festival handicap won by Present View, with a couple of those looking unlucky that day making the most appeal, namely Attaglance and Buywise. The latter is preferred being open to improvement and having shown his well-being with a comeback success over hurdles at Ludlow.

Heronshaw - 15:00 Cheltenham

Blinkers really sharpened Big Easy up when he landed the Cesarewitch last month and it would be no surprise were he to carry on the good work over hurdles, but Heronshaw is a very interesting alternative on return from a year off. The ground has come right and a stiff track will likely unlock more from this low-mileage seven-year-old. Vivaldi Collonges is another to consider.
