Traffic Fluide made a winning start over fences in France in October and shaped well when fourth in a C&D Grade 2 last month. He gets the nod in receipt of weight from all on handicap debut. Recent Fontwell winner Kings Lad should run well again despite a 12 lb weight hike.

Bitofapuzzle - 14:25 Ascot

Dual listed bumper winner Bitofapuzzle narrowly lost her unbeaten record under Rules at Haydock last month, but she's the type to go on improving for a while and is narrowly preferred to Carole's Spirit, whose only defeat over hurdles to date came when second to the selection's stable-companion Highland Retreat in last year's renewal of this event. Land of Vic is another to consider.

Bobcatbilly - 15:35 Ascot

Bobcatbilly had plenty in hand when winning a good race at Wetherby on Boxing Day and looks up to defying a 10 lb rise under similar conditions. Caspian Caviar Gold Cup winner Niceonefrankie has to be respected as he bids for the hat-trick, with Ballinvarrig and Fox Appeal completing the shortlist.
