"...he looks a handicapper to keep on side..."

Timeform on Rodrigo Diaz

Timeform take you through the card at Kempton on Tuesday...

13:15 - RODRIGO DIAZ (11) was nicely on top at the finish when making a successful handicap debut at Lingfield last month and a 7 lb rise doesn't look enough to prevent the follow up with further progress on the cards. He was strong in the finish on that occasion, so the drop in trip is a slight concern, but he looks a handicapper to keep on side. Alvaro, a winner on this surface, has been in good form on turf this summer and may provide the main threat ahead of Francisco Bay, who dead-heated with Willkommen over C&D in June.

13:45 - This race has cut up a little and the most solid option appears to be HELIAN (3), who ended 2019 with a win on the all-weather at Lingfield, and ran creditably on his return from seven months off back at that track last time. Helian is entitled to strip fitter for that run now, and should remain competitive from this mark granted he gets a good pace to aim at. The unexposed Keep It Brief was below form on handicap debut last time but is bred to be better than this mark and it remains early days.

14:15 - LOCAL LAW (4) was very green on debut at Newmarket when short in the betting and may well be able to improve enough to get off the mark at the second time of asking. He is related to pattern winners, and could prove a different proposition now, though Uncle Bryn is a very interesting newcomer and strong market support for him would put a different slant on things. Zion Star is another likely to come on for his debut.

14:45 - Stall 11 isn't ideal but GOLDEN CLAIM (7) is otherwise appealing. Indeed, he fared better than his finishing position would suggest at Ripon last time, unable to sustain an eye-catching move from off the pace, and an improved display may be on the cards back at seven furlongs. High Applause needs to raise his game but it's entirely possible that he'll do just that now switched to a nursery. He is next best ahead of Spirit of Rowdown.

15:15 - TRUE BELIEF (1) is 0-12 on the all-weather, but has finished in the money on seven occasions and, granted better luck in-running than at Lingfield last time, this could be his day. He is more that capable of winning a 0-65 handicap. Oisin Murphy is an eye-catching booking for Phoenix Star, who has slipped back to his last winning mark and, like the selection, is well-drawn. Lacan is also high on the list and Saucy Encore would've been, too, but for her high draw.

15:45 - CLOG MAKER (12) improved the last twice to win a couple of minor events, and looks just the type to do well in handicaps for Mark Johnston, so he gets the nod to complete a hat-trick after six months off with further improvement anticipated. La Maquina is feared most having done well under the circumstances to finish runner-up over this C&D in July, ahead of Spirit Warning and Melodic Charm.

16:15 - BREATH OF JOY (3) looks the way to go here as she is a sprinter on the up so is fancied to defy a 7 lb rise for her taking Pontefract success and claim victory number three for the season. Clareyblue is sure to make his presence felt from a handy mark, while Nigel Nott is worth considering too on his second run for Mick Appleby.

16:45 - Marginal preference in an open handicap is for Godolphin's ARABIAN WARRIOR (12). This son of Dubawi has few miles on the clock so is fancied to step forward on his handicap bow here and follow up his Wolverhampton success at the chief expense of stable-companion My Vision who figures on a handy mark himself. C&D winner Zuba and the unexposed Shatha appeal most of the remainder.
