"...he is fancied to overcome some interesting newcomers to get off the mark..."

Timeform on Latest Generation

13:10 - LATEST GENERATION (1) made plenty of appeal on paper, being by Frankel out of the Coronation Stakes winner Rizeena, and he duly shaped encouragingly when third on his debut at Sandown last month, keeping on well to be beaten less than two lengths in what looked a strong maiden. That form sets a healthy standard in this line-up, and, with further progress on the cards, he is fancied to overcome some interesting newcomers to get off the mark, the pick of which could be the William Haggas-trained Mohaafeth.

13:40 - GUMDROP (4) showed improved form to make a successful nursery debut at Chester last time, ultimately winning comfortably by three and a quarter lengths. The handicapper has reacted accordingly, giving him a 9 lb hike in the weights, but Gumdrop remains open to more improvement and is fancied to mount a bold follow-up bid now trying seven furlongs for the first time. Mayaas caught the eye at York last time, and his form stacks up, so is another to consider now sporting first-time cheekpieces.

14:10 - MOSS GILL (2) has run to a smart level on his last couple of starts at York, winning a listed heat in July and then giving another good account when third behind Battaash (beaten three lengths) in the Nunthorpe Stakes last time. A consistent sort who nearly always runs his race, he rates the most solid option in a competitive renewal of this listed contest, with only 4 lb covering the top seven on Timeform's weight-adjusted ratings.

14:40 - LATE ARRIVAL (19) produced his best effort yet when second at Yarmouth 10 days ago, where he looked all set to win before being pegged back in the dying strides. Still relatively unexposed in the context of this race, he rates very much the one to beat on these terms, getting 5 lb from each of the older horses in opposition.

15:15 - BOUNCE THE BLUES (8) was successful on her last two starts in Ireland, producing a career best to win a listed race at Naas on the most recent occasion. This represents another step up the ladder, but she was well on top at the finish last time and has certainly earned a crack at this sort of level, with further improvement likely to be in the offing on her first start for a new yard (joined Andrew Balding shortly after her latest win). Jubiloso was well fancied by connections when disappointing at Royal Ascot last time and is probably worth another chance also.

15:45 - DEREVO (6) has shaped with promise without winning in three starts this season, including when sixth on his most recent outing at York. He was short of room at a crucial stage of that race and not seen to best effect as a result, always facing an uphill task as he kept on under mainly hands-and-heels riding. The suspicion remains that he has a bigger effort in the locker when everything falls right, so he is well worth another chance having come down slightly in the weights since last time. Starcat is another to consider after shaping well on his first try at this trip at Goodwood last time and should have more to offer still.

16:15 - EEH BAH GUM (7) could be worth siding with in a tricky finale. His losing run stretches back to August 2018, but there was more encouragement to be taken from his latest fourth at Thirsk, where he produced comfortably his best effort of the season to be beaten just a length. He was competitive in much better races in 2019 and could be ready to take advantage of his much-reduced mark if building on the promise of last time.
