"...there ought to be big improvement on the cards, and she boasts leading claims."

Timeform on Zabeel Queen

13:10 - LOGICIAN (1) hasn't been seen since winning the St Leger here last year and he looks a banker on his return to action. Unbeaten in five starts, each time readily stepping up as he climbed the ranks to Group 1, Logician landed the final classic of the season with plenty in hand. This step back in trip should hold no fears and he should have far too much for Mythical Magic in this two-horse race.

13:40 - MEU AMOR (10) built on her debut promise when bagging a Pontefract novice last month, not the first to boost that form as she ran out a workmanlike winner. She will be at least as effective now stepped up in trip and should have more to offer now she goes into handicaps.

14:10 - ZABEEL QUEEN (9) is bred in the purple - a Frankel filly whose dam was a half-sister to Dubawi - and she overcame inexperience to make a winning start in a hot Ascot novice in July, quickening up smartly. This is tougher but there ought to be big improvement on the cards, and she boasts leading claims.

14:40 - CAIRN ISLAND (1) showed improved form to get off the mark at Ayr in July, making use of his experience and fitness as he forged away late on, and he progressed further to follow up on his nursery debut at York last time, his stamina kicking in to edge out the runner-up close home. He still possesses potential for better, and, given he has stayed on strongly in his last couple of races, this step up in trip should show him to even better effect.

15:15 - BELIEVE IN LOVE (6) progressed another chunk as she extended her winning run to four at Newmarket last month, benefitting from being waited with off the fractious early gallop and also the emphasis on stamina that the race ended up developing into, running to the sort of level that would see her successful in pattern company. A strict interpretation of that form suggests she's a Group 1 filly, so this step up in class shouldn't be a problem, and there is every chance she can continue her winning run.

15:45 - JUMAIRA BAY (9) was all the rage in the betting at York a couple of starts back and he duly went like the best horse at the weights, just failing to seal the deal. That form has since worked out well, and Jumaira Bay finally got off the mark dropped into a maiden last month, landing the odds in fairly stylish fashion. He is an interesting contender now back in handicaps and is taken to provide Roger Varian with his third win in the last four runnings of this race.

16:15 - FRESH (8) showed improved form to get off the mark in style on his handicap debut at Kempton last month, quickening up impressively to lead and then finding plenty when challenged inside the final furlong. A 7 lb rise for that win could prove lenient, and with further improvement anticipated, he is taken to go in again.
