Daily Racing Multiple: Can Cartmel provide the third winning double in three days?

Back Clear The Runway @ 2.757/4 in the 15:45 at Cartmel

Another winning double for the column yesterday at 18.017/1 to secure back-to-back successful multiples for a 28 profit over the weekend, so hopefully we can keep the run going as we head to Cartmel for Monday's action.

Laura Morgan's Clear The Runway is a rapidly progressive horse and could be the most exciting runner on the card as he looks to keep up his winning run.

His last two victories in novice company over hurdles have been easy at Market Rasen and Southwell. Indeed, last time out his two rivals had zero chance as he scooted away by 25L.

Back over to fences today, he could still be well-handicapped from 129 given his progressive profile, and he's a solid jumper who can make the running. His win over the fences at Southwell in April with a good time on the clock and a fast pace showed him in a very good light.

He's by sire Jet Away, who injects pace into his runners and they tend to travel well, and he's an exciting sire too.

I expect him to be backed too from 7/4, even though he's up against Cartmel specialist Tonto's Spirit.

Conditions perfect for Jessiemac

Back Jessiemac @ 4.57/2 in the 17:30 at Cartmel

The Handicap Hurdle over nearly 3m2f for the final race at Cartmel brings together a bit of a mixed bag of mares with varying degrees of ability ranging from 99 to 127. It's a 0-125, but very much like yesterday's Kelso race, this doesn't look strong for the grade.

Tokyo Getaway and Lady Bowes look as though they want softer conditions, and with two winners over CD, I've whittled it down to Jessiemac at 4.57/2 and hopefully we should get a run for our money.

She finished second to the well-handicapped Stoney Rover last time out at Ayr, and that's a track she goes well at. That runner-up performance was off the back of a fair run in a Class 2 Mares' event on her previous start.

With winning form on good ground and proven stamina, her claims look the best. Indeed, she was a winner over 3m2f at Kelso on good ground back in October of 2020 and she's still off a reasonable mark.

The 8yo gets plenty of weight and her rider Thomas Willmott knows her well with his 3lb claim.
