Cheltenham 14:50 Coral Cup - Back Jigoro EW
One of the best betting races of the day is the Coral Cup and with six places on the Sportsbook each-way, at least we can throw in something at a double-figure price with Jigoro for Gordon Elliott.
Elliott had a blank day while Willie Mullins cleaned up yesterday but the 10/111.00 on Jigoro was from 14s this morning on the Sportsbook and Jack Kennedy rides what appears to be his pick.
He has a typical Elliott profile for this - lightly raced with a handful of starts and one sure to stay.
The 5yo hacked up at Navan in December by 9L over 2m, and seemed well at home on the testing conditions as it was officially heavy that day.
A 7L defeat to Mystical Power soon followed in the Grade 2 Moscow Flyer Hurdle - and that looks a good run now considering that horse's second in the Supreme yesterday, and the early steady pace wouldn't have suited Jigoro, although he was emphatically put in his place.
His mark on that run alone of 141 looks interesting.
He'll act on the ground and it's a positive for me stepping up to the 2m5f.
Cheltenham - 17:30 Champion Bumper: Back Argento Boy EW
I put up Argento Boy as my NAP for the Cheltenham preview from the collection of writers on Betting.Betfair.Com last week and he's been a slight drift out to 16s for the closing race on Wednesday.
Now, Bumpers aren't for everyone, and playing with a stack of horses at the start of their careers with any improvement to come is not easy, but we do get a price.
I was impressed with Argento Boy's debut at Fairyhouse on his sole start back in January, winning by 7L.
I always want a horse for this who will stay a lot further, and while it's a tough race which the UK trainers seem to avoid now, Argento Boy is a half-brother to previous Champion Bumper winner Briar Hill - who was a smashing horse but very unlucky with injuries.
He's also a relation to Boston Bob, so Mullins will know this family inside out.
