Rowdy Romeo is overpriced w/o the fav at Sligo
Sligo - 16:10 - Back Rowdy Romeo
Will Do is a short priced favourite for this Maiden Hurdle and looks tough to beat if fit on his first start of the season. Rather than trying to take him on, I think there's a more appealing bet in the without the favourite market.
Silver Gazette is favourite in that market after not having the best luck at Listowel last time when badly squeezed up approaching the last and that led to him finishing behind Just Three who reopposes today. I think Silver Gazette is likely to reverse that form but there's a horse who finished ahead of him at Thurles last season who appeals against him today.
Rowdy Romeo finished just under nine lengths ahead of Silver Gazette that day and that run was following up some respectable runs in defeat in his three previous starts over hurdles over a variety of distances.
He returned this season at Downpatrick earlier this month and travelled well behind the leader from the off until making a bad mistake at three out and giving his rider no chance of staying in the saddle.
I think the manner in which Rowdy Romeo travels through his races suggests that he will be suited by this track and I think he has the second best level of form in the race so should be favourite in the without the favourite. Therefore, while he has shortened in the market this morning, I think he's still bigger than he should be and any 2/13.00 or bigger appeals.
