Qatar Masters - Contenders based on current form
The American was tied for runner-up last week, losing in a play-off, a winner the week before, and arrives in Doha in red hot form. He has an affinity for playing golf in this part of the world and warrants joint-favouritism with...
The young South African had an off-week last time out, finishing a disappointing 52nd, but finished four in Dubai prior to that at the Hero, and his December victories in the Alfred Dunhill and Mauritius mean he is a player you need to have on your radar. He was fifth here in 2025.
The New Zealander's tied for fourth finish in Bahrain last week continued his rich vein of form which also saw him grab the runners-up spot in Dubai a fortnight before that. Finishing 25th here last year, and 16th in 2023, indicates that he has some feel for the venue.
Qatar Masters - Contenders based on course form
At a big price, we can back Rikuya Hoshino who has the lowest stroke average at Doho from the last three years and won the tournament in 2024. The Japanese player arrives after missing the cut in Bahrain, although he did come 14th at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, so has some recent form in the bag to bring to a course where he thrives.
The Spaniard brings consecutive top 20 finishes - at Bahrain and Dubai - to this week's event. That bodes well for a man who was fifth two years ago and twice (2023 and '21) a runner-up here.
The Frenchman started the year well, finishing 10th at the Dubai Invitational, but consecutive missed cuts since then have left his backers disappointed. We can expect a return to form this week at a tournament where he was fourth 12 months ago and sixth in 2024.
