The PGA Tour's Fall Series stays in Mexico and Dave Tindall brings three each-way tips for the action at El Cardonal...

Introduction to the World Wide Technology Championship

For a second straight week, the PGA Tour pitches up in Mexico as a field of 120 contest the World Wide Technology Championship.

El Cardonal at Diamante, a Tiger Woods design, is in its fourth year now and we know that extremely low scoring is needed to hit the jackpot.

The three winning scores are -27 (Erik van Rooyen), -24 (Austin Eckroat) and -29 (Ben Griffin last year) and modest winds suggest it'll be something similar.

Andrew Novak won last week's Mexico Open with -25 and that could be beaten on this 7,452-yard par 72 with no rough and biggish greens.

Perhaps contrary to expectations, podium finishers over the last three years have ranked higher for Driving Accuracy than Driving Distance.

Both runners-up, Sami Valimaki and Chad Ramey, ranked fourth for DA last year while Justin Lower and Carson Young (both T2 in 2024) were in the top 10 for DA.

Wild drives can find big trouble so continually playing from the short grass is rewarded.

Putting is obviously key and all three winners here were in the top four for Putting Average.

Once again, the battle to finish in the top 100 of the FedEx Cup rankings and secure a card for 2027 is the story within a story with just this and two more events of the season to go.

World Wide Technology Championship Bet 1: Blades Brown each-way @ 22/123.00

There are a couple of ways of linking Blades Brown to Tiger Woods so the 19-year-old rising star would be an appropriate winner on the great man's course.

Brown and Woods are two of only three players, along with Bobby Clampett, to be medalist at both the US Amateur and US Junior Amateur.

Both Brown and Woods played their first PGA Tour event at the age of just 16.

This is not to say Brown can be expected to have the career Tiger has had but it shows we're dealing with an extraordinary talent.

At the start of 2026, Brown shot a 12-under 60 to take the halfway lead at The American Express (second with a round to go before fading).

That bodes well for a birdie-fest like this one while some of his other big finishes are also relevant.

A third in March's Puerto Rico Open came on Paspalum while that was also the grass used for his runners-up finish at the Korn Ferry Tour's Tulum Championship in Mexico a month later.

Brown has since shown his liking for Paspalum again with 11th at the Corales Puntacana and 19th in the Mexico Open on Sunday.

With accuracy important this week, it stands out that Brown was 1st for DA last week. He was also 8th for DD so that's an ideal combination off the tee.

He also ranked 1st for Greens In Regulation at Vidanta Vallarta so if he can putt like he did at The Korn Ferry Tour Championship (3rd Putting Average) on his previous start, Brown has a golden chance of becoming a PGA Tour winner before the age of 20.

With his Tour card already locked up for 2027, Brown can play with freedom and it's worth pointing out that he played the last three holes in +3 last week so 19th didn't exactly flatter him.

As he said at the Mexico Open: "These last I guess three events now, Cabo, Austin and RSM, they're kind of like playing with house money just trying to improve my World Golf Ranking, and yeah, getting ready for the 2027 season. It's awesome. I'm so thankful to be in the position I am."

World Wide Technology Championship Bet 2: Steven Fisk each-way @ 30/131.00

At 54th in the FedEx Cup, Steven Fisk is having the best season of his career.

With Nos. 51-60 qualifying for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and The Genesis Invitational via the Aon Next 10, he can look forward to 2027 with increased anticipation.

Fisk ticks a lot of boxes this week.

A winner at July's ISCO Championship, he now has two PGA Tour victories having landed the 2025 Sanderson Farms (-24) in last year's Fall Series schedule.

Since the ISCO success, the 29-year-old from Georgia has hit his straps in the fall again with seventh at the Bank of Utah Championship and second at last week's Mexico Open where he closed with a 63.

Looking at his stats at Vidanta Valarta, Fisk was in the top 11 for Off The Tee, Approach and Putting.

He's been in the top five for GIR in three of his last four starts and at 42nd for Driving Accuracy this season he's an above average fairway finder.

Also 43rd for SG: Putting in 2026, Fisk was fourth in last year's Puerto Rico Open which, like last week, shows he can excel on Paspalum.

He didn't have his best stuff on this course when playing it for the first time last year (53rd) but an opening 66 was a good knock and he'll know more this time.

In this field, 30/131.00 (10 Places) for a player with two wins in his last 29 starts along with second and seventh in two of his last three outings, is worth a go.

World Wide Technology Championship Bet 3: Seamus Power each-way @ 45/146.00

We last saw Seamus Power suffering an agonising playoff loss to Austin Smotherman at the Bermuda Championship two weeks ago.

But that second place, which followed on from 20th at the Bank of Utah Championship and seventh in the Biltmore Championship Asheville, shows that the Irishman is one of the Fall Series' form players.

Speaking in Bermuda, Power said: "It gets me back to like full status again, which was frustrating this year playing - not really knowing when you're in, when you're not in. That's nice.

"That was a big goal for the fall was to get a top-100 locked up. Now I'll have a look at the list and see if I can maybe move into that top-60 or 70, whatever that cutoff is for the first couple elevated events.

"But really big strides for me forward like in the fall, three events, two top-10s, almost winning here, so a lot of good stuff."

He likes this event too. At the previous venue, El Camaleon, he was third and 11th on his previous two starts there while on his debut at Tiger's course last year, Power was 27th (16th with a round to go).

The 39-year-old from County Waterford is a two-time PGA Tour winner and is certainly in the type of form to add a third.

He ranks 7th for SG: Putting this season and 19th for Par Breakers while he's been 2nd (Bermuda) and 10th (Utah) for Drving Accuracy in his last two events.

Always one to consider at this time of year, I'll try Power in the 5 Places market at the elevated 45s.
