Sepp Straka on his way to winning the Honda Classic

Steve Rawlings returns to preview this week's PGA Tour and DP World Tour events as he tries to find a big-price winner.

  • Correlating course form points to Straka
  • Patton the pick again at a price
  • Streb backed to rack up the treble

I appreciate that I'm starting to sound like a stuck record but following victories last week for the pre-event favourite, Tommy Fleetwood, at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, and for the second favourite, Tony Finau, at the Houston Open, the song remains the same.

With just one triple-figure winner on the PGA Tour since May and eight of the last nine DP World Tour events going the way of someone trading at a double or single figure price, we've been up against it of late - although I have managed to pick out a contender in each of the last four weeks.

Guido Migliozzi, backed at 120.0119/1 before the off last week, hit a low of 10.519/2 in South Africa last week before he made a ten at the 17th hole in round two and that was the third week in-a-row that someone hadn't quite met the first lay back target since 180.0179/1 pick, Kurt Kitayama hit a low of 3.052/1 at the CJ Cup.

And we may well be up against again on the DP World Tour this week. As highlighted in the preview, the season-ending DP World Tour Championship tends to go to one of the market leaders so I'm putting all my eggs in the RSM Classic basket this week although at odds in excess of 200.0199/1, I wouldn't put anyone off putting a few pounds on Guido again.

Making a ten when just two off the lead would derail anyone and he was playing very nicely until then.

Seaside Course really should suit Straka

As highlighted in the preview, there are a number of courses that correlate nicely with the Seaside Course in Sea Island and one man that has played well at three of them this year is Sepp Straka.

After winning the Honda Classic at PGA National in February, the Austrian finished third at Harbour Town in the RBC Heritage, behind Jordan Spieth and Patrick Cantlay, two months later, and he was beaten in a playoff by Will Zalatoris at TPC Southwind in the St Jude Championship in August.

Straka was also beaten in extra time by the 2016 winner of this event, Mackenzie Hughes, at the Sanderson Farms Championship only last month so why is he trading at a triple-figure price?

On the downside, he has event form figures reading MC-MC-44-MC and he's missed the cut in each of his last two starts but neither fact put me off too much.

This venue definitely suits his game and it's only a matter of time before he performs really well here, and he won the Honda after a string of missed cuts. And as pointed out the preview, many a winner of this event has been seemingly out of form before the off.

Hawaiian victory points to Patton

I've backed Patton Kizzire several times in this event and after his top-ten finish in Mexico last time out behind Russell Henley, I'm happy to chance him again.

Both Kizzire's PGA Tour wins came at tracks that correlate nicely - the World Wide Technology Championship at El Camaleon in 2017 and the Sony Open at Waialae Country Club back in 2018 - and if he's to win a third title this is as good a place as any.

He putted better than he has in a while last time out (sat second with a round to go) and his best result last year was a third placed finish in the Charles Schwab Challenge at yet another track that correlates very nicely - Colonial Country Club.

Hattrick seeking Streb a straightforward selection

Like Kizzire, Robert Streb has only tasted victory on the PGA Tour twice, but both his victories came here at Sea Island in this event.

He won the 2014 edition as a 140.0139/1 chance and he doubled up here two years ago at 1000.0999/1 so I was more than happy to take a chance this time around at 200.0199/1.
