After a rare week off, with the 2025 season drawing to a close, the DP World Tour resumes with the first of two playoff events, the Abu Dhabi Championship, and the PGA Tour returns in Mexico for the fifth of seven Fall Series events - the World Wide Technology Championship.

Last year's winner in Abu Dhabi, Paul Waring, was a 300.0299/1 chance before the off and six of the 12 winners before him were matched at a triple-figure price before the get-go so long-shots have fared well there over the years.

I've picked out two there, starting with the prolific Thriston Lawrence.

Abu Dhabi Championship bet #1 - Thriston Lawrence @ 100.099/1

Having secured five DP World Tour titles in the last four years, the 28-year-old South African, Thriston Lawrence, is very easy to fancy here at a triple-figure price.

As highlighted in my in-depth preview, links exponents fare well here and although he's yet to win on a traditional links track, or in the desert, Lawrence has contended on a traditional links, as well as several times in the desert.

Lawrence finished fourth behind Xander Schauffele in last year's Open Championship and he's finished placed at three different high profile DP World Tour events at three separate desert tracks.

He finished fifth in the DP World Tour Championship two years ago, second in the Dubai Invitational in January last year, and he finished sixth in this event 12 months ago.

He missed the cut in Korea two weeks ago but that was just one week after he'd finished third in India, and it's less than three months since he won the European Masters in Switzerland for a second time.

He's a terrific scrambler and an extremely good putter so given those two metrics have been key at the Yas Links since the event switched there in 2022, it's very surprising to see that he's has been allowed to drift to such an attractive price.

Abu Dhabi Championship bet #2 - Daniel Brown @ 150.0149/1

Although not as prolific as Lawrence, the two-time DP World Tour winner, Daniel Brown, is another that looks over-priced given his pedigree.

He was nursing a neck injury on the last occasion we saw him on the DP World Tour, when losing in a playoff to Marco Penge at the Open de Espana, and that may explain why he's drifted all the way out to 150.0149/1 but I'm happy to chance him.

Since winning his second DP World Tour event at the BMW International Open in July, Brown has finished inside the top 12 at the British Masters, the Irish Open, the Open de France, and the Open de Espana last time out, so he's been in fine form all summer long and although he withdrew here 12 months ago on debut, this track should suit him nicely.

He led the Open after round one last year (finished 10th) and he also contended strongly at the Irish Open at Royal County Down two months later, where he finished fourth, so he has links form, as well as numerous examples of his ability to play well in the desert.

Brown finished only 27th in the Ras Al Khaimah back in January but he sat second at halfway and he lost in a playoff the following week in Bahrain before contending again the following week at the Qatar Masters, where he finished 10th.

There's clearly a risk surrounding the neck injury but given he ranked sixth for Scrambling and fourth for Putting Average in Spain (the two key stats at Yas Links), and that he knows how to win, he's well worth chancing at a big price.

Place order to lay 8 Us @ 10.09/1 and 12 Us @ 2.01/1

World Wide Technology Championship bet - Back Sami Valimaki @ 130.0129/1

Only one of the last eight winners of the World Wide Technology Championship has gone off at a triple-figure price (110.0109/1 chance, Brendon Todd, in 2019) so we may be up against it on the PGA Tour this week, but one outsider hit my radar as soon as I started looking at the tournament last week, and I'm pleased to see that Dave Tindall has highlighted his chances too.

As Dave points out, Sami Valimaki, is very well suited to this type of venue and as he sits at number 103 in the FedEx Cup Standings, he has all the motivation needed to go low on his course debut.

The top 100 in the rankings after the RSM Classic in two weeks' time will keep their cards for the 2026 season so Valimaki has work to do and this week's test offers him the best chance to make a move.

The 27-year-old Finn is gutsy in-contention, as his two wins in extra time on the DP World Tour testify, and a victory on the PGA Tour is certainly within his capabilities.

Place order to lay 8 Us @ 10.09/1 and 12 Us @ 2.01/1
